2011: My Best Year So Far

2011 has been my best year since I started writing plays in 1996. This year there were twenty-one productions of my plays (one-acts and three-acts); twenty-two, if I count the fact that St. John’s Theatre Group in Listowel did a second run of ‘Looking For Love’ in November.
The highlight of the year was the performance of ‘The Maiden Aunt’ in Rathowen by the newly-reformed Rathowen Amateur Dramatic Society. That caused a great buzz locally and was a wonderful success. I’m really grateful for all the hard work everyone put in to make it such a success.
The list of productions in 2011 were as follows:
‘The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley’ – Portumna Players; Tyrrellspass Drama Group; Skibbereen Theatre Group; Killavilla Drama Group; Inch Drama Group; Fal Agus Foscadh Drama Group.
‘Mother Knows Best’ – Lough Gur Amateur Dramatic Society; Clonmore Drama Group; Shanowen Players.
Foertunes and Misfortunes – Derrynoose Drama Group; Tullylease Drama Group.
‘Here Comes The Bride’ – Glanworth Players’.
‘The Maiden Aunt’ – Castleconnor Drama Group; Clonmore Drama Group; Rathowen Amateur Dramatic Society; St. Senan’s Drama Group; Frenchpark Drama Group; Rathdangan Drama Group.
‘Looking For Love’ (two-act) – St. John’s Theatre Group
‘Looking For Love’ (one-act) – Ballycogley Players; Dunshaughlin Players.
‘Wedding Night Blues’ (one-act) – Lough Gur Amateur Dramatic Society.
Next year is looking good, too, with eleven or twelve productions lined up, including a play on the festival circuit. Roll on 2012!
Happy New Year, eveyone!
