A Friend In Need

This is a fast-paced comedy in which a hapless writer is forced to do some fast talking and some fancy footwork to save his marriage when he finds himself in a very tricky situation after he reluctantly agrees to help a free-spirited ex-girlfriend with her Literary Appreciation Group and ends up with her as an unwanted houseguest.

Characters:
Fergus Lambe……………a married freelance writer in his mid-thirties
Clodagh Fitzpatrick……..a free-spirited ex-girlfriend of Fergus’, who loves
literature and romantic ideals
Maeve Lambe…………….Fergus’ wife
Margot Clancy……………Maeve’s strident mother
Tilly Trimble………………The Lambe’s housekeeper, who is not always tuned in
Rosie O’Regan……………The Fitzpatrick’s housekeeper and a friend of Tilly’s
Lorcan Fitzpatrick……….Clodagh’s husband, a farmer, who acts before thinking
Barry Feeney…………….A happy-go-lucky friend of Fergus’
Cyril Potter……………….A timid and shy funeral director

The play is mostly set in the Lambe’s sitting room except for three short
scenes which need only props, lighting and sound effects.
