Supreme Sacrifice

In this drama, Sean Hughes, a twenty-year-old student, has recently returned home after doing three months voluntary work in Somalia. He is deeply troubled by what he has seen and is angered by everyone’s apparent apathy to the crisis. His inner turmoil is further compounded by the guilt he already feels over the suicide of his best friend. He decides to go on hunger-strike to highlight the plight of the Somali people, aware that he may have to give up his own life for what he believes in. But are his motives as straightforward as they seem?

The play is set in 1992, just prior to President Robinson’s visit to Somalia.
