Act 1 Of The New Play Finished

I just finished Act 1 of my new play last night. It still has the working title, ‘A Thing Called Love’ – and probably will have until I finish the script – and I’m very pleased with how it’s shaping up so far.
I’ve put in references from a few of my previous plays into this new play since – in my own mind – a lot of my plays are set in and around the one area. The play opens in ‘The Cosy Corner’, previously featured in ‘Fortunes and Misfortunes’; and hapless Garda Pat Doyle was previously seen in ‘Too Close To Home’; while Sgt. Christy Geary and Pearl Brady are connected with the play ‘Here Comes The Bride’. Knowledge of my previous plays isn’t necessary to enjoy the new one, though.
The introduction of Gda Doyle was a last-minute decision, but he has opened up a whole new direction for the play.
I already know how the play is going to end, but there is still a way to go to get there and quite a few blank spaces to fill. But the characters are strong and they fill in the blanks for me.
It’s a strange process this writing. I still don’t understand it fully – if I did, I mightn’t be able to do it.
The action now shifts to Phyllis’ house..
